Malcolm Perry is a Principal Scientist and founded the Pencil Bioinformatics team. He earned his PhD at Imperial College London working on gene regulation and conducted postdoctoral work at the European Bioinformatics Institute in the Ensembl Regulation team.

Prior to joining Pencil, he also worked in a clinical-stage biotechnology company, focusing on early detection of cancer recurrence through ctDNA monitoring.
